Welcome
Headteacher's Welcome - Miss K Langford
On behalf of the staff and governors I warmly welcome you to our school website.
Cooperation between home and school is vital to the development of the child. We look forward to building a happy relationship with you as a family.
St Asaph VP Infant School is a school of which we are immensely proud; our pupils are incredibly independent, confident and ambitious. Our children are enthusiastically supported by a talented and committed staff.
This school is a place of awe and wonder, where the outdoors features prominently in our curriculum. Our children are inspired by the organic nature of the education we provide. Although they sometimes come home muddy, they are full of smiles and stories to tell about their day. The children experience a very unique education at the VP, one that doesn’t see them cooped up in classrooms and as a result our free-range children are thriving! We value all members of our inclusive community and all children are recognised for the unique contribution that they each bring.
We seek to provide a safe and happy environment within which our pupils can thrive; this features a nurturing environment, excellent teaching and a powerful extra-curricular programme which is designed to enable each pupil to live his or her life to the full, both whilst at school and afterwards.
Every member of staff has a deep commitment to our pupils, and this ethos contributes to high standards of well-being and enhanced progress, which results in learners who are equipped for life and all the challenges that it may bring.
St Asaph VP Infant School is placed in a remarkable setting, which enables us to make exceptional all-round provision for our pupils. We enjoy the benefits of being a Church in Wales Controlled School and develop excellent links with the St Asaph Cathedral. Our strong Christian ethos ensures that our children are loving, compassionate, respectful and caring.
The Cathedral City of St Asaph provides both a stunning vista ready with opportunities for forest school and developing learners’ citizenship through work in the community.
Children at the VP learn through first-hand experiential activities with the serious business of ‘play’ providing the vehicle. Through their play, children practise and consolidate their learning, explore ideas, experiment, take risks, solve problems, and make decisions individually, in small and in large groups. First-hand experiences allow children to develop an understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. The development of children’s self-image and feelings of self-worth and self-esteem are at the core of all we do.
The school can best be judged by meeting our pupils, who are invariably well-mannered, kind, respectful, well-educated, hardworking, excellent company and good fun.
We warmly invite you to see the school for yourself, I look forward to welcoming you to our happy and vibrant school.
